ROBYNNE EDWARDS

frequently asked questions
What types of disputes can be mediated?
Almost any type of dispute can be resolved through mediation — provided the parties are willing to engage in the process. This includes business conflicts, founder and shareholder disagreements, boardroom deadlocks, investor relations, corporate and private equity disputes, personal injury and medical negligence matters (including Road Accident Fund claims), high-net-worth divorces, inheritance and succession issues, family office conflicts, labour and employment disputes (both private and public sector), agriculture and primary sector matters, and reputation-sensitive situations.
Mediation allows parties to address both legal and personal issues with privacy, flexibility, and discretion.
How does mediation work?
Mediation is a confidential, neutral process where I guide the parties through structured discussions. Each party is given the opportunity to voice concerns, explore interests, and collaborate on potential solutions. My role is to ensure the process remains balanced, respectful, and focused on finding outcomes that both parties can live with — without the cost, stress, and public nature of litigation.
Is mediation confidential?
Yes — confidentiality is central to mediation. Everything discussed during mediation remains private and cannot be disclosed or made public, unless the parties agree otherwise. This allows for open, honest conversation in a secure and protected environment.
Do I need a lawyer to attend mediation?
No. You are not required to have legal representation to attend mediation, though some clients do choose to involve their attorneys for guidance.
What makes your mediation practice different?
Unlike many mediators who focus solely on keeping the peace, I focus on making peace. My approach is designed to uncover the real, often unspoken core of the conflict. Through guided, structured dialogue, I help my clients have the difficult conversations necessary to reach resolutions that are not only practical, but lasting. This process allows both parties to move forward with true clarity and closure.
How do I book a consultation?
You can schedule a private consultation directly through my website to confidentially discuss your matter and explore whether mediation may be right for your situation.
